Azerbaijani writer Elchin Afandiyev received the "Necip Fazil" Turkish Award for Literature, with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan attending the award ceremony at the Istanbul Ataturk Cultural Center.

Erdogan noted during his speech that Elchin Afandiyev won the love of readers with his stories and novels translated into many languages.

“The presentation of this award is especially noteworthy at a time when the sincerity and solidarity of the Turkish-Azerbaijani friendship are an example for the entire world.  I congratulate E. Afandiyev, and I am confident that with his work he will continue to be one of the leaders in the field of culture and science of our friendship,” the President of Türkiye said.
